Dupli takes on walking challenge in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK

The latest event in our year long partnership may be the toughest one yet.

The Edale Skyline is a 20 mile route along the ridge of Edale in the Peak District.

The good news for participants is that it’s a great walk with amazing views. Our intrepid team will cross the skyline of Edale and Hope Valley, with inclines and declines, challenging their legs along the way. The route has a variety of fabulous views – on a clear day, including Ladybower Reservoir, Edale Rocks, Mam Tor and the ridge walk, Noe Stool and Kinder Scout Low.

The less cheery news is that the aim is to cover the 20 mile route, which includes an overall ascent of over 4500ft, in no more than 10hours!

Dupli HR & People Office, and organiser of the event, Claire McCreery elaborated, “Following on from our localised Litter Picking event, 10k Wolf Run and virtual cycle up the length of the UK, this is the latest event in our ongoing support of Alzheimer’s Research UK and the wonderful work they are doing to help find a cure for this debilitating condition.

Heading out to tackle the challenge on September 2nd, the team at Dupli continue to show their commitment to the cause, giving up their weekend to raise funds for ARUK. It’s a cliché, but every pound raised really does make a difference so we hope that the industry will continue to support us in our efforts to raise awareness and sponsorship”.

Marketing Manager Craig Bird, explains why the link with Alzheimer’s Research UK is so important to Dupli, “The emotional attachment we have to photographs doesn’t diminish with the onset of illnesses such as dementia. Patients may lose the ability to express the emotion, but studies have shown the important role photographs have to play in their therapy through memory stimulation.

As the leading supplier into the UK photographic print industry, Alzheimer’s research UK was the perfect fit for Dupli when we decided to look for a charity partner. Many of our team have been personally affected with friends and family affected by dementia related illnesses which just adds to our desire and determination to help raise funds and awareness for the work ARUK undertakes.”

As mentioned above, the challenge will take place on September 2nd and anyone wishing to support the event can make a donation via the official Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/campaign/dupli2023 or just head to www.justgiving.com and search Dupli.
